Day 8… November 8
Today I am grateful for the beach and the ocean.

I grew up in the middle of the United States. From the age of 2 weeks to 18 years I lived nowhere near a beach. (Missouri :))
At 18 I moved away for college and got closer to the beach, technically, but still nowhere near. (Idaho :))
The first time I saw the ocean I was 19, nearly 20 years old when I moved to California. I had just started dating this boy in California and he liked to surf. I ended up spending a lot of time with that boy…..32 years so far!
My first beach trip was Half Moon Bay, California.
I love the peace and tranquility I feel with my bare feet in the sand and the sound of the waves.
I love how amazingly vast the ocean is.
Some people collect things from the places they travel. I collect sand. I have a little jar of sand from nearly every beach we have visited.

It is a little piece of the feeling I love here in my home in Arizona until I can get back to the beach.

I know there are those that go to the beach and need to have things to do…and those things are fun. We have boogie boards, skim boards, stand up paddle boards, snorkel gear, crossnet, paddle ball sets, sand toys…
We even took surf lessons on one trip to Ensenada!

But for me, I am content with a chair, my hat, and my sweatshirt (yes, I am almost always cold!!), and maybe a blanket or at least a beach towel to cover up with. I can just sit and watch the waves and listen to the ocean.
The easternmost beach we have visited so far is Coco Cay, Bahamas. The farthest west beach we have been to is so far west it is nearly east. Ngarunui Beach, Raglan, New Zealand is on the west coast of the North Island. The black sand there was like I have never seen.

I don’t know if the beach makes me realize how small I really am in comparison to the rest of the planet, but I do know that I feel awe and wonder and profound respect for the Creator of the Universe there.

That feeling helps me to remember that He created me as well. In fact, He created the beaches and the oceans for me to enjoy. And I do enjoy them.
I am always grateful when I am able to have some “beach therapy” time, especially when I can share it with family and friends, and that cute surfer boy I met in California all those years ago!
What are you grateful for? “Contact Me” and send me a quick email. If you prefer, you can “Schedule a Conversation” for a free session to discuss what you want to work towards and how to get started.
